Devlog #2
Hello again guys!
An other week of working on the game has passed, and we have finally made a decision on the name! It will be named Patchwork Parkour.
Firstly we were prototyping some stuff like: the arm rig, camera position and the direction of our platform game (we decided that the main direction will be horizontal, aka we start left and our goal is right, but we will be able to climb up as well to avoid obstacles etc). Afterwards we came to the conclusion that we will make the game in 2D instead, after Zora made a prototype on a 2D ragdoll, which we all liked.
We are thinking about an art style reference, and found that we might probably draw everything (character, background etc) painterly/line art, and use a pixel shader in the end to pixelate it.
Some nice references are Blasphemous and Celeste, even though I'm pretty sure they already made everything in pixel art beforehand.
We will go more in depth about all this in the Art bible ofcourse :)
Apart from the Art bible, we are meanwhile also working on other documents.
We also tested some more features of the game.
Here you can see our updated grabbing function which would let you now grab on to moving objects.
We've also been experimenting with what would happen if just a bit too much force is applied to the limbs. Should you let go of the object or should the arm fall off? See an implementation of both options here:This is it, thanks again for reading and until next update!!
