Devlog #3

Hey guys!!

This is our 3rd devlog! This week, we have been mainly focusing on the documents (sound doc, tech doc, art bible etc), to make things more clear and organized for us.

For the art side: we have been thinking more about the art style, since we are also working on our art bible. Things have once again changed since last devlog, like the main art style we want to go for and our main references.

We have looked into how Cuphead tackles the art style, and since we were mainly already deciding on going for a more painterly background with minimal art style, but the characters and interactive things and obstacles having lineart and cell-shading or flat colors, we became more confident to go for this art style. We were first still a bit unsure if it would have looked good, but Cuphead does it beautifully:)

Here are some examples:

We love how this looks, since there is such a big difference between the background and things you cannot interact with VS the character, obstacles, enemies and interactive things. The art style also works really well and doesn't look or feel weird.

For the tech side: We've added a lot of new features including: Multiple controller support, obstacles , a revamped grabbing system and much more.

Watch this video for a playthrough of our newly build level.

For the sound side: Kaatje is looking on how to exactly implement the sounds she made last weeks, into Unity :)

We will keep working on our game now, seeeeya and stay tuned !!!
