Devlog #11

Hey and welcome back guysss!

This week is one of the last weeks we'll work on the Patchwork Parkour! Afterwards it has to be done already....(exciting)

We stopped working on adding new features etc, and are focusing on the polishing of the game.

Basically, we've been making things crisper and prettier!! We are doing this by adding/changing some effects, like the grabbing particles, general floating particles, messing around with the light system, adding sounds to details, animating some sprites, and so on.

I've added a "controls" page, which we still missed, so it's clear for new players:

I also added more lighting that cast shadows so it would look more like a modern game instead of a "2000's flash game" ;) Hopefully it worked to make it look less amateurish (sorry it's a bit hard to see on this picture):

For the particles that happen once you're grabbing something: we are not sure yet if we want to stay with the new "polished" version that we have now, since it's a bit busy. Bern might change a thing or two on that, but for now we got some little sparkles!

Zora has been focusing a more on animating some sprites like the waterfall splashes, and the fires. Modular assets have also been made/edited, as well as the lever indications. The lineart consistency around the whole level has also been fixed.

For the programmers:  There has been a screen shake and controller shake added by Bern, as well as the vignette which makes things spookier ;)   additionally our hands now glow when we're grabbing to make it easier to see what we're holding onto instead of the particles.

For the sound: sound was mainly a lot of mixing this week,  remaking some script so they work better with other scripts, remaking sounds and added some extra sounds. Extra sounds that were implemented is a small electric shock and buzz when the lever activates and a clock strike when the player passes their highscore. Water sounds were made bigger to fit the waterfalls and the exit has some angels singing to make the ending bigger.

We are very excited for the outcome of Patchwork Parkour (soon!!!) and I hope you are too :)

Seeya!!
